Jarvis at the OBA Festival
On Wednesday, February 11,2015, the Jarvis CI Senior Band Class performed at the Ontario Band Festival, in Markham, Ontario. After a strong performance of three pieces of repertoire the band received an outstanding Silver Award from the panel of adjudicators. Comments from adjudicators included,"Great ensemble to work with," and, "Nice performance!" Congratulations to the members of the senior band class who worked so hard to prepare for this festival and represented Jarvis with pride!

First, review notes in the treble, bass, and alto clef and Grand Staff.
Activities:
Exercise 1 - Treble Clef - Complete until you get 30 correct answers
Exercise 2 - Bass Clef - Complete until you get 30 correct answers
Exercise 3: Alto Clef - Complete until you get 30 correct answers.

Recording Analysis Assignment
Band Students Grade 10, 11, and 12
- Find two recordings of each of the pieces we are preparing for the Ontario Concert Band Festival.
- One recording should be of a PROFESSIONAL level group and one should be of a SCHOOL or AMATEUR level group.
- Compare the recordings on a variety of elements and complete the charts provided using full sentences and descriptive language.
- In your answers refer to the pieces specifically using bar numbers, instrument names, and musical terminology like dynamics, tempo, and techniques like we use and practice in class.
- An explanation of each term can be found here.

You will need a Google account to complete it online. You can access your school Google account through the Jarvis AW site.
